Kfz385 from Planet Models

PLANET MODELS : Kfz.385 Flugbetrifsstoff-Kesselwagen

This is the first vehicle Planet created by utilising parts from the old Esci Opel Blitz and 1 of 3 Kfz.385's I own (Milicast and Airfield Accessories being the others) and this for me is the bestof the bunch.

PARTS
The kit is cast in Planets usual strong and crisp resin with a good to high level of detail. Excess resin plugs are present and these ones were actually not to bad to remove (most parts needed a fair bit of sanding though). Thankfully my kit had no air bubbles.

ETCHED BRASS
This is yet another excellent little set with ladders and widescreen frame supplied, as well as all the cab interior (gear sticks, pedals etc).

CONSTRUCTION
There are quite a few parts to this one and I found the brass was the most time consuming section but when all the parts were cleaned it went together pretty smoothly. A little filling is needed here and there but not all that much. You have the option with this one to leave the cab roof canvas up or down with this vehicle if you wish.*

PACKAGING
The kit comes in Planets usual sturdy white cardboard box with a picture of the subject on the front. Instructions are also included and are in joint Czech, English and German with a little bit of history on the vehicle included too. No decals are present so it's into the spares box again.

CONCLUSION
This is another fun kit to put together and another excellent addition to my A4/V2 battery, I would definately recommend this to fellow modellers with an interest in the V2 missile programme or just looking for an interesting project for their collection. However I don't think this would be a good intrductory kit to someone try resin or brass kits for the first time.

I picked my kit up from Plastic Hobby Kits s.r.o. Hrnciarska, Kosice, Slovak Republic

*There is a good example of the Kfz.385 vehicle online at the A4/V2 Resource Site and it's a 1/35 Scale Kfz.385 by Albert Koopman of holland.
